2PM’s Nichkhun involved in a minor car accident while driving under the influence

2PM‘s Nichkhun has been allegedly caught driving under the influence of alcohol.
On July 24th at 3:30AM KST, Nichkhun was involved in a car accident while driving in Gangnam. The singer was allegedly under the influence of alcohol when he rear-ended a motorcycle.
His blood alcohol level was measured at 0.056%, a percentage where he will be subjected to his license becoming suspended.
An official from Gangnam’s police station informed Dispatch over the telephone July 24th, “After measuring his alcohol content at the site [of the incident], it was concluded that [Nichkhun] was not severely intoxicated. Immediately after the accident, [Nichkhun] and the victim were investigated by the police.”
No one was injured at the scene, and there was no serious damage to either vehicle. The police station official continued, “It was a small accident and neither Nichkhun nor the victim were injured. Both vehicles were insured, and Nichkhun has taken measures to safely return home following his investigation.

Motorcyclist involved in accident with Nichkhun said to have suffered head and back injuries

Following the news of 2PM‘s Nichkhun being booked for driving under the influence of alcohol, another report has surfaced stating that the motorcyclist has been injured.
As mentioned previously, on the morning of July 24th, Nichkhun was involved in a car accident with a motorcycle near the Hakdong four-way street. At the time of the accident, Nichkhun’s blood alcohol level was recorded at 0.056%, leading to a probable suspension of his driver’s license and an investigation with the police.
A witness at the scene who also followed the motorcyclist to the hospital reported, “The victim was on the floor, bleeding from his head. An ambulance rushed him to the emergency room at Kunkuk University Hospital.” He continued, “At the moment, he’s expressing severe pain in his shoulders and in his back.”
Currently, this statement and the level of injury has not been officially confirmed. All that has been reported by the police is that both parties have decided to settle this through the insurance companies, and Nichkhun returned home afterwards.
JYP Entertainment previously apologized for the accident and revealed that Nichkhun would comply with all investigations requested of him.

More witnesses come forward from Nichkhun’s accident

2PM‘s Nichkhun is unfortunately receiving a lot of public criticism following his recent accident, but new witnesses are coming forward and reporting various claims about the incident.
Previously, an eye-witness who was at the scene of the accident claimed to have seen Nichkhun step into a convenience store following the accident to purchase two beverages. “I think he learned that the drink can lower your blood alcohol percentage if you drink it prior to being measured,” he said. However, new witnesses are saying that although Nichkhun did step into the store, he did not actually consume the beverages.
tvN‘s ‘E News‘ met with a few of the witnesses and broadcasted their reports on July 26th.
One person claimed, “As soon as the collision took place, Nichkhun stepped out and got on his knees with tears in his eyes. It looked as though he was praying,” while another said, “He was panicky and a bit restless.
The E News broadcast also reported how the witnesses responded to the claim that said Nichkhun purchased and consumed a beverage prior to being measured for BAC. One said, “I don’t know if Nichkhun listened to his manager, but he went into the convenience store to buy the drinks after the police arrived. However, seeing this, the police followed after him to measure his blood alcohol content.”
Others said, “The blame was completely put on Nichkhun after it was revealed he had been driving after a few drinks,” and “It seemed like the driver of the motorcycle was about to get up, but immediately laid back down after he saw Nichkhun’s face.
Nichkhun’s accident occurred on July 25th at 2:30AM KST, while heading home after a company dinner. The singer has recently displayed his need to take some time off and reflect on his action.

Nichkhun’s family shows their support for Nichkhun with a photo

Nichkhun‘s family recently posted a photo to show their support for the idol, who is currently in a period of self-reflection after his public heartfelt apology.
On the 26th, Nichkhun’s brother Nichan had tweeted, “What I would do to cheer u up bro…” along with a picture with his sisters. The picture had the words ‘nickhun‘, ‘love you‘, and ‘fighting‘, demonstrating the siblings’ support for the singer.
However, the slightly comical expressions of the siblings seemed to overshadow the supportive message in the public’s eye, and many took the picture to be insensitive towards the situation and the motorcyclist who is recuperating from the fall.
With comments pouring in, Nichan has clarified his intentions with a new tweet that stated, “I apologize to the injured person, his family, and the Korean people for my recent tweet. I only wanted to cheer up my brother because he was so deeply in pain and despair but I should have been more thoughtful and cautious about people who are related to this accident. I’m so sorry.”

Blackbox video of 2PM’s Nichkhun’s accident released

According to media reports, the blackbox video containing the footage of the accident involving 2PM‘s Nichkhun and the motorcyclist was recently released.
It is said that the video shows that Nichkhun was driving at a speed within 40 km per hour (~ 25 miles per hour) on the four-way street of Hakdong when he collided with a motorcycle driving at a relatively slow speed as well. However, both parties were revealed to have not paid attention to the stop line, which can be seen as the cause of the accident.
Netizens commented, “I hope that Nichkhun’s case is handled right”, and “Nichkhun’s blackbox has finally been revealed.”
